Hi, Thanks for posting up such a thorough and intelligent update of the Black Canadian podcasting scene. Last fall, I was fortunate to spend time in Nova Scotia and the Maritines, learning more first hand about how Black sailors freed enslaved African Americans in the United States and took many of them to Canada! I'm an African American who has been podcasting since 2013. I'm currently vacationing in Mauritius to see whether it can serve as a partial Expat or Digital Nomad location. I'm replying to your post due to my utter disgust in learning from a Black Enterprise magazine article, that Black people worldwide are on average spend 50% of their week watching TV and other media. How could we possibly move forward if we spend 81 hours per week watching mind numbing TV shows?! The silver lining in the Nielsen Report appears to be that Black people are seeking out more diverse content that reflects their own lives and stories. Here is the link to the Black Enterprise magazine article: https://www.blackenterprise.com/nielsen-black-audiences-diverse-content-represent/ . I'd like to thank you for bringing Black Canadian podcasting listenership issues to the forefront. My hope is that more Black people will wise up and start consuming and supporting podcast shows that reflect their own experience; instead of watching silly or very negative Black image TV shows which thrive on nasty conflicts and famiky disruptions between and among Black folks. Additionally, I am thrilled whenever I interact with Black Canadians; since we all share an "invisibility" challenge in our respective societies.
