I am so excited about this substack! Thank you Kattie!

My podcast is My Dad Stole My Limelight, and can be found here: https://podfollow.com/1549773210/view

Lauren Deborah (host, writer, iconic bisexual & demisexual) never had a 'coming out' as when she discovered her sexuality, her Dad came out first…stealing her limelight. In each episode, Lauren will interview two people together -- someone who has come out and someone they have come out to, (think parent, BFF, co-worker, partner…anyone from any time in their life). Listen along for funny, relatable conversations that normalize all the feelings and experiences around coming out, as well as Lauren's journey and growth discovering that everything happened exactly as it should. Each week we discover more about our most authentic selves and find ourselves being more visibly, comfortably queer.

I would love to shoutout another Canadian pod, that is one of my favs because it makes me cry-laugh every time, PodGis: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/podgis/id1550494377

Hi Katie! Thanks for putting this together! My podcast is called Audio Branding: The Hidden Gem of Marketing and I discuss all things sound - especially how it influences our buying decisions, but also how it influences are daily lives. You can find more info about it at https://audiobrandingpodcast.com - and I know you know about it because you've been a guest on it! :)

As for a fellow Canuck, Sean Savage at AR Media (https://armedia.ca) does a lot of editing and sound design for Canadian podcasts. I'm using his services now to conduct the tech side of my guest interviews on Riverside.fm and it's working out beautifully.

Looking forward to seeing the newsletter! All the best, -- Jodi

Hi Kattie, thanks for this substack!

I produce a podcast called Songbirding, which can be found here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/songbirding-a-birding-by-ear-podcast/id1480167042

It's a very unconventional podcast which makes it difficult to describe, but here it goes.

It's an audio nature documentary, recorded entirely outdoors amongst birds in their breeding territories in southern Ontario (and soon, beyond), and is very lightly narrated by myself as I'm recording -- explaining the species being heard, the habitat, and anything else relevant.

The audience is a mix of birding enthusiasts and general listeners who have shared they just used the podcast to calm down, relax, or even fall asleep to. The later audience may actually be the larger demographic currently.

It's about to hit its third year, and has had over 350k downloads and at least 35 5-star written reviews (with no reviews with less than 5 stars) between Apple Canada and US and Podchaser, and is a solo project. So it's doing well, but reaching more audience is always a struggle as someone for whom this is a side project. While very low budget its production is much more like a film, where release of comes months or even years after the initial recording.

It was recently nominated for a Canadian Podcast Award, and was reviewed/featured by CBC Radio Active (Edmonton) in early August.

I'm hoping this fall to get myself onto some other podcasts and in other media that can get the podcast more reach. Many podcasts rely on their guests to help promote their shows, but... alas, the only guests here are the birds.

Looking forward to more newsletters.

Rob
